Let’s face it – dynamic teamwork is everything these days. And if you’re curious about how Gen Z rolls when it comes to working with others, you’re in the right place.
We’re the new kids on the block, and we’re already shaking things up in the workplace.
Let’s break it down. You can watch the whole episode here.
Listeners first, talkers later
- Gen Z doesn’t talk for the sake of talking. They listen, learn, and then contribute when they’re confident.
- They value timing – making sure their points are relevant and don’t disrupt the flow of the conversation.
No room for guesswork
- They demand clear instructions and context for tasks.
- Direct communication is their default, even if it sometimes comes across as blunt – it’s all about avoiding confusion.
Creativity meets structure
- They thrive on balance. Clear goals? Yes. Micromanagement? No.
- Gen Z brainstorms freely but organizes their ideas into practical steps. They value creative freedom within a framework.
Collaboration but with ownership
- Gen Z loves working with others but also wants ownership of their ideas and projects.
- They’re adaptable – sometimes leading, sometimes supporting, always ready to contribute.
Tech-savvy and efficient
- Tools like Slack, Trello, and Zoom are second nature to them. Long meetings or endless email threads? Not so much.
- They prefer streamlined workflows and quick, productive discussions.
Transparency over hierarchy
- They hate working in silos and believe everyone should have visibility into team goals and progress.
- Hierarchies don’t impress them – collaboration and clarity do.
Looking ahead: the next big project
Gen Z isn’t just reshaping teamwork – they’re also redefining marketing. That’s why I’m launching the 2025 Digital Marketing Research Project, part of the “Marketing Through Gen Z Eyes” series.
This initiative explores what’s coming up in marketing through the lens of Gen Z professionals. It’s about sharing insights, breaking down trends, and creating impactful content together.
Here is the deal:
- Collab: Over 40 Gen Z marketers will share insights on 2025’s biggest trends
- Content: We’ll release a full YouTube video and a written report
- Network: It’s about honest, pressure-free collaboration
